Overview

Embark on a full-day shared adventure into the cultural heart and mountainous beauty of Oman. The journey begins with a convenient pickup from Muscat, where you’ll meet your fellow travelers and your local Omani guide, who speaks both Arabic and English, ready to introduce you to the wonders of the interior.

Our first destination is the historic city of Nizwa, once the capital of Oman and still considered the spiritual and cultural center of the country. Upon arrival, we’ll explore the bustling Nizwa Souq, one of the oldest and most colorful markets in the Sultanate. As you wander through its traditional alleys, you’ll find beautiful silver jewelry, handwoven textiles, pottery, spices, dates, and the iconic Omani daggers known as khanjars. The market is a true feast for the senses, offering insight into local life and traditions.

After soaking in the cultural charm of Nizwa, we begin our ascent into the Al Hajar Mountains toward Jebel Akhdar, which translates to “The Green Mountain.” Accessible only by 4WD, the route takes us through winding mountain roads and breathtaking cliffside views. As we climb, the temperature drops, and the landscape transforms into terraced farms, fruit orchards, and stone villages nestled among the peaks.

At the top, we’ll pause to enjoy the serene atmosphere and cool mountain air. While we don’t hike into the deeper villages, you’ll get panoramic views of the region’s beauty — including rose plantations (in season), pomegranate trees, and stunning canyons. Your guide will share stories about the mountain’s unique ecosystem, traditional farming practices, and the lives of those who inhabit the highlands.

We’ll enjoy a traditional Omani lunch at a local restaurant, offering a delicious selection of authentic dishes from the region. It’s a chance to relax and savor the flavors of the mountains.

On our return journey, we’ll stop for a photo opportunity at Birkat Al Mouz, a picturesque village known for its falaj irrigation channels and date palm groves — a perfect end to a day of cultural discovery and scenic beauty.

This tour is perfect for travelers looking for a balance of history, nature, and authentic Omani hospitality — all in one unforgettable day.
